Popoia Island & Kailua Bay Full Day Guided Kayak Tour
Kayak in the crystal-clear waters of Kailua Bay with an experienced guide and visit one of Oahu’s smallest offshore islands. It’s only a half-hour paddle away.
You’ll arrive 1 hour before the start of the guided tour to transport the equipment easily from Active Oahu’s Store front shop to Kailua Beach. You guides will help you load your kayak onto your car with special foam pads and straps provided, so you can focus on the excitement. Before you head out your expert guide will share insider tips on parking, safe ocean access, and kayaking techniques.
On the tour, you may spot sea turtles and colorful fish from your kayak or while on Popoi’a Island (also known as Flat Island). There you will experience great views of Kailua Bay and Kailua Beach. You will kayak to the Popoi’a island bird sanctuary and then explore the perimeter on foot.
Your Tour Includes
- Enjoy a day in Kailua at the beach
- Choose to go to Kalama beach for boogie boarding; Kailua beach for relaxation; or LaniKai for snorkeling and to experience the best beach on the island.
- Choose from an assortment of beach gear including umbrellas, snorkel gear, beach chairs, boogie boards.
- Optional snorkeling and Nature Walk around Flat Island (Popoia Island)
- Observe sea turtles and monk seals in their natural habitat

How To Prepare
- Arrive to the shop 1 hour before tour starts.
- 4 Door vehicle required to transport your Kayak
- Be prepared to walk your kayak to the beach.
- Wear a swimsuit, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, bring a change of clothes.
- Bring shoes or hiking sandals for the walk around the bird sanctuary.
- Leave valuables at home.
- The Tandem Kayaks fit one or two people and include life vests, seat backs, and paddles.
- This Kailua kayak tour is great for beginners and for those with Children 8 years and older.

- For groups of 6+ there are no refunds for cancellations within 72 hours of activity
- We will gladly reschedule your activity at no extra cost if changes are made prior to the 48 or 72 hour cancellation period
- Cancellations from date of booking to 48 hours before activity or for larger groups 72 hours before activity are subject to a 10% service charge
- If for some reason we are unable to confirm your reservation with the activity operator due to oversold seats or other unforeseen reasons, a full refund will be provided and you will be notified immediately to discuss alternative dates and activities
If a tour operator cancels any trip due to weather, mechanical failure, unsafe conditions, or insufficient reservations, a full refund will be provided.
