Hoku Water Sports

If you’ve always wanted to learn to surf, now’s your chance! Hoku Water Sports hosts adult’s and kid’s surf lessons on Po’ipu Beach, giving visitors to Po’ipu Beach, HI the chance to experience something they won’t be able to anywhere else in the world. Hawaiʻian surfing is an experience you’ll remember forever. Whether you want a one-on-one private lesson from one of their experienced surf instructors or you’ve got a group that wants to enjoy a lesson as part of your vacation experience, they’re ready to teach you. Their surf school is welcoming to anyone who wants to learn! They’ll get you out on the water and help you embrace the courage and confidence you need to stand up and ride a wave—even if you’ve never touched a surfboard before! They will teach you the basics so you can stand up and gentle paddle around the bay, taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Check In: Meet at their poolside kiosk at the Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort in Po’ipu Beach 10-minutes prior to lesson time. Bring sunscreen and a towel.

Group Surf Lesson

Join their experienced and fun instructors for 90-minutes of instruction. Students will spend approximately 20 – 25 minutes on land being instructed on the basics of catching a wave, getting up, proper stance and actually surfing a wave! Hands on demo. Following the land demo, students then spend an hour in the water with the instructor assisting them into waves, coaching their technique and giving tips on how to make things easier. The key to success is to relax and have fun! *Minimum age is 8 years and maximum weight is 225 lbs.

Semi-Private Surf Lesson

Enjoy the smaller group setting for more individualized instruction and the chance for more waves. Also perfect for the honeymooners wanting to just surf together. Lessons include a land lesson and demonstration. followed by one hour in the water with the instructor catching and riding waves.  Three students max. *Minimum age is 5 years and max weight is 225 lbs. For children under 8 years, an adult must be present in the water along shoreline to assist.

Private Surf Lesson

Perfect for the keiki 5 to 8 years old or those wanting to fine tune previously learned skills. Also, great if you just want to learn in an individual class setting. *Minimum age is 5 years and max weight is 225 lbs. For children under 8 years, an adult must be present in the water along shoreline to assist.

Outrigger Canoe Ride

Experience the traditional sport of paddling in a Hawaiʻian outrigger canoe with a guided tour from Hoku Water Sports! Together, you’ll embark on a fun, exciting, informative and definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. Outrigger canoe rides are 60-minutes long and give you an enthralling experience that’s unlike any other you’ll find anywhere else in the world. Rides include a paddling/safety briefing describing proper paddling technique as well as how to enter and exit the canoe.

Meet at Yellow & Red ‘Hoku Water Sports’ Canoe in Po’ipu Beach.

**All riders must be able to swim and paddle. If conditions permit, you will catch & surf some waves ‘Hoku Style’.
